Since it first opened in 2019, Umbrella Alley has captured hearts (and countless selfies) as one of San Francisco’s most joyful and Instagram-worthy attractions. It’s a place where street art meets storytelling, where visitors and locals mingle with murals, and where creativity bursts from every wall. Now, the Alley is starting its next chapter — Umbrella Alley 2.0 — and it’s shaping up to be even more colorful, playful, and community-driven than ever.

What’s Still to Come: Umbrellas and Big Dreams

If you’re wondering where the colorful umbrellas are — don’t worry! The beloved overhead installations will return in winter and spring 2026. Once again, visitors will be able to stroll beneath a canopy of floating umbrellas and balloons that have become a symbol of hope and creativity in the city.

For now, the focus is on murals, installations, and rebuilding the community energy that made the original Umbrella Alley such a success. The project is a true collaboration between artists, volunteers, and fans who have supported the Alley since day one.
